#33 Natalie Carr

Wednesday Feb 02, 2022
Episode #33 with one and only Natalie Carr. Currently based out of Charlotte, NC the R&B and pop artist began playing guitar and keyboard at a young age and officially started putting out music in 2019, but her appreciation for music came well before that. Carr’s early memories came from her father’s adoration of The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney, and she began writing her own songs at the age of 13 while growing up in Stamford, Connecticut.
After earning a B.A. in Public Policy from Duke University, she worked as a bartender at the Motorco Music Hall in Durham where she would daydream about performing at the venue one day. Even right upon arriving at Duke, she was mentally devising a path for her music.
She moved to Charlotte in 2018 on the recommendation of mix engineer Chris West, who thought it would be the next natural step for the aspiring singer-songwriter. Releasing her first two songs in 2019, Carr displayed a rare refinement in emotive pop songwriting on the track “Talk About You,” stacking a range of melodies and vocal effects on a spacey track produced by NC State alum J-Mac and CAMEone. On “Bad Side,” she showcases more of her modern R&B stylings on a darker hip-hop tempoed beat.

It's the Season 1 Finale of the show and we're ending season 1 with a bang!
Fact or Cap, Snack or Yack? 18,000,000 followers later on Tik Tok and Party Shirt is one of the trendiest duos online.
On the episode, we talk about LA life and life during the pandy. The story behind the Party Shirt brand. The moment Tik Tok started to take off. How life has changed for them. Why they purchased the tour bus. ETC.
Before topping the TikTok pop chart, PARTY SHIRT was born when Di Petta (“X”) and Iavarone (“Ivy”) met in a USC dorm room in the summer of 2016. The two music producers immediately knew they wanted to work together after bonding over a mutual appreciation for music, acting, and fashion. They set out to build a multidimensional brand that could encompass all of their shared passions, and PARTY SHIRT was the result. With their versatile and polymathic approach, X and Ivy embody the DIY ethos of the 21st-century artist: they produce SNL-inspired skits that get hundreds of thousands of views; they model for established apparel brands including Von Dutch; - Paddy Fallon

#24 Joey Burbs
Monday Mar 01, 2021
Monday Mar 01, 2021
*Episode 24 of The RPD Show was recorded on 2/24/21 RIP Kobe & Gianna Bryant
Joey Burbs is a 6’5” combo guard based in Chicago, IL. He has a natural scoring ability with a consistent deep and midrange jump shot, but his lateral foot speed and general lack of desire to compete on the defensive end of the floor make him a liability.
Despite those shortcomings, Joey has persevered to become one of the largest musical acts to come out of his middle school class. Even though no one was really asking for it, the singer, songwriter, and producer released his debut project “Not in That Order” in May 2019. To literally everyone’s surprise, the album accumulated millions of streams, led by the lead single 'Smile Too' and the Sammy Adams-assisted 'Bright One.' Joey thought the album was going to make it on the Billboard Heatseekers chart after receiving an email from a person there named Alex asking to verify the release, but then it didn’t.
Outside of music, Joey enjoys conspiracy theories, has twin little brothers, was one of the first people to contract the Swine Flu in the midwest, and uses the word ‘cattywampus’ consistently in day-to-day conversations, despite not being 100% certain what it means.
On a serious note, Joey just quit his job as a corporate strategy consultant to pursue music as a full-time venture. He is extremely grateful you have taken the time to read, care and listen to any of his work to this point, and he is beyond excited to show you all the new music he has been working on.
On today's episode,
- we talk about Joey's playing days at Rice
- His new single "Day Job" and his music-making process
- Lamelo Ball and NBA Basketball
- Mental Health and how he's been through COVID
